I.  General Questions:

Q1. Can I fully customize the search pages with my own site design?
You can truly and fully customize the search pages with entirely your own HTML design and layout. Advanced Meta search engine uses mainly template based output. So, you should have some (at least basic) understanding of HTML to make it as elegant. Your possibilities are virtually/only limited by your HTML skill and imagination.

You can even customize the result template in any language if needed.

Q2. Do I have to put a link back to your site or show your logo?
No. You install and run it from your server. You are granted a usage license and you do NOT have to put any link back to us or show our logo.

Q3. I am not sure if my server has Perl version 5 installed, what shall I do?
Current versions of Advanced MetaSearch Engine does not require Perl. It comes as an self supporting program.

However, it is recommended that if you have a recent version of Perl installed. It may offer easy help in case you need to identify some details of your server or perform some other task; for there are lots of Perl tools and utilities freely available to do that.

Q4. Will it work on my server?
Advanced metasearch has been tested and works fine on almost all popular operating systems (OS) including:

Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows XP, FreeBSD, Linux (RedHat, Debian etc.) SunOS (Solaris), BSDI, BSDOS, HP-UX etc. If your OS is not listed here, contact us.

You must also have a domain name and a working/online web-server (Apache, IIS, Zeus, IPlanet etc.) with CGI enabled.

Q5. What kind of traffic can this program handle?
First of all performance and speed of metaSearch engines mainly depend on your server connectivity. The faster and better connectivity your server has (your server, not what your hosting company claims to have. Even if you are on a gigabit connection and it is being shared by hundreds/thousands of other servers you are actually not enjoying a gigabit connection).

Given that you are with a good host (with a fast connection) and on a fairly powerful server; it should easily deliver several hundreds of thousands of search requests per-month. Even on an average strength sub-hosted virtual server, Advanced MetaSearch works pretty well. However, if you receive much more search requests and see your server often under heavy load, it may be worth considering some server/hardware upgrade and/or upgrade to a Hi-Power solution. You are always encouraged to consult Sales or Technical Support for further details and suggestions.

Q6. Why there is no ordering link for the addons/extensions?
You are supposed to order any Addons/Extension after you aleady bought the main metasearch engine. Ordering links are available in the User-Area.
(addons/extension are OPTIONAL. You can buy any addon/extension any time later)

Q7. Do I need to have any additional Module/s installed on my server?
NO. You do NOT have to have any additional module installed.
(this applies to Advanced MetaSearch Engine and relevant products only)

II.  Addon / Extension Questions:

Q8. What is Zone Support Addon? What does it do?
'Zone Support Addon' (Zoning) lets you show results from any engine-module (search/data source) as a separate output block. You can customize each zone individually (result links, number of results, overall layout etc.). Many popular sites use this feature to show a result side-bar (like Google). You can create more than 1 zone and show any zone output anywhere on the result page.

You can use Zoning to show your PPC affiliate links (paid listings) with better visibility to increase click-throughs.

Zone Support Addon also lets you create a Top-Zone and associate any engine-module with it just like any other zone. But the Top-Zone results will always appear at the top of the main results.

Q9. How does the 'Live-Search' (Engine-Select) addon work?
'Live-Search' (Engine-Select) addons simply adds some extra elegance to the search. It lets you show a dynamically generated search-box with all the available engine-modules from where the visitor can make a search by choosing them selectively. When a search is in progress; it can show live search status (using javascript and images). It also lets you show some statistical report on the search process like how many results returned, which engine-modules successfully returned results, which engine-modules timed-out, total results etc.

With this addon you can optionally assign a maximum number of engine-modules to be searched at a time. If you have lots of engine-modules and assign a number lower than the total number of engine-modules installed; it will create a stepping-search by using a certain number of engine-modules and que the remaining ones to continue the search.
